Selected works 2025-Present

‍We experience the world through the body. It is where memory, emotion, vulnerability, and identity are carried. I create soft sculptures from fabric, often using the form of female legs, which I wrap in pantyhose. The forms are compressed, bound, folded, and intertwined, becoming a way for me to explore bodily expressions, emotional trauma, containment, exposure, and sexualization.

Pantyhose became a way for me to think about these experiences, and how pantyhose can act as a second layer of skin that protect, conceal, compress and hide what we are taught are imperfections. I like this contradiction of concealment and exposure . In my own history of having to wear them as part of my profession, there was always an extremely claustrophobic feeling of exposing my form.

As a woman, I’ve struggled with understanding and accepting my own body. My female form is still a point of confusion, and at times I feel very alienated from my own body. The series continues to explore that space between the body we inhabit and the tension between acceptance and alienation.

While the work is rooted in my own experience and relationship to my body, it also connects to the ways women’s bodies are looked at, sexualized, covered, exposed, restricted, controlled, protected, and judged. These pressures become internalized, shaping how we see ourselves and contributing to the external validation and the pressure to conform, ultimately affecting how we understand our bodies and our place in the world.
